Physiopathology of megarectum: the association of megarectum with encopresis.
Studies of both rectosphincteric reflex threshold and conscious rectal sensitivity threshold were performed on 15 control subjects and 61 children with a radiological megarectum, 70% of whom were encopretics. In control subjects, the reflex threshold and the sensitivity threshold were obtained with a comparable volume of rectal distension. In the megarectum patients, sensitivity was often consi...

متن کاملPhysiological observations during induced dyspnea.

This report presents studies in which dyspnea was produced by exercise and added airway resistance iii normal individuals. These observations were concerned with the measurement of physiological paramete...
متن کاملPhysiological observations in Sydenham's chorea.
Involuntary movements in a patient with Sydenham's chorea were usually characterised by bursts of EMG activity lasting more than 100 ms, occurring asynchronously in antagonist muscles. The "hung-up" knee jerk was a choreic movement induced by the tendon tap. Exaggerated voluntary movements were produced with EMG burst longer than normal.
